Change is difficult.

As The Professional Friend, I predominantly help men work through change, from teen years to retirement. Whether it’s transitioning from high school to college, school to work, marriage to divorce, straight to gay, etc., together we pursue greater self-knowledge and personal agency that leads to a more rewarding life.
I use a variety of coaching techniques derived from psychodynamic, existential, CBT, family systems and Gestalt therapeutic modalities, depending on client needs.
After we identify your goals and obstacles we’ll chart a path forward to help you achieve the positive outcomes you seek.

Friends and family are used to the current version of who you are, and they’re not looking to change that dynamic.
But what if you really want something to change?
That's where a special kind of friend can help.
A Professional Friend provides objective insight, guidance, and accountability in ways friends and family can't.
If you want meaningful change,
"hire a friend."
My job is to help you make changes and make them stick.
"Our deepest fears are like dragons, guarding our deepest treasures."
-Rainer Maria Rilke
Instead of seeing fear as an obstacle, let's believe that it points to what is most valuable in our lives. Internal resistance, doubt, and fear often arise whenever we approach something truly meaningful, whether it’s personal growth, love, creativity, or a life-changing decision. Let's work together to tame your dragon.

I coach individuals seeking positive change by blending psychology, spirituality, meditation and accountability. Change often looks like a mountain: together we break it into manageable steps that help you to the other side.
While each helps individuals improve their lives, therapists typically focus on addressing mental health issues and past traumas. The Professional Friend focuses on helping individuals achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.
My approach to goal-setting is to help clients identify specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. I also work with clients to create an action plan and provide accountability to ensure they stay on track to achieve their goals.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance in my practice. I adhere to the International Coach Federation's (ICF) Code of Ethics, which includes strict guidelines for maintaining client confidentiality.
I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and am pursuing MFT licensure, but presently I am not a therapist. I have been coaching for years and am pursuing deeper connections and ways to help fellow evolving humans become who they see themselves being.

My experiences, choices, and age enable me to help others through their own unique challenges. Whether it's personal, professional, spiritual or otherwise, the work we'll do is exciting and spurs growth and happiness.
I co-parent teenaged girls, swim year-round in the SF Bay, read and write, and teach yoga. I’ve lived on both coasts and abroad, and have made two major career changes in my life, each time starting from scratch.
"Nothing human is foreign to me."
Making changes? Let's talk.
Send me a note about how a professional friend can help you and we'll schedule a time to talk. I'll respond within 48 hoiurs.
I work anywhere but am located in San Francisco.
